3M Prestige

Product overview

High solar performance without
a heavily tinted look.

3M Prestige Series uses more than 200 microscopic optical layers to manage infrared energy while allowing natural light through the glass.

The non-metalised film provides low interior and exterior reflectivity, clear views and no signal interference. Five film options make it possible to balance heat reduction, glare control, daylight and appearance for each space.

Best for Homes, offices, retail, hospitality and architectural buildings where comfort and solar control are required without a dark or mirror-like appearance.

Why choose 3M Prestige?

Advanced solar control
with exceptional clarity.

Prestige is designed for projects that value natural light and views as much as comfort and energy performance.

IR
Rejects infrared energy

Targets infrared wavelengths that contribute to the heat experienced through sun-exposed glass.

LIGHT
Preserves natural light

High visible-light options help rooms remain bright while delivering meaningful solar control.

VIEW
Maintains clear views

Low interior and exterior reflectivity supports better views and a natural building appearance.

SIGNAL
No signal interference

Non-metalised construction will not interfere with mobile phone, Wi-Fi, GPS or 5G reception.

The Prestige range

Five levels of daylight
and solar control.

Lower-numbered films provide stronger glare control. Higher-numbered films transmit more natural light and create less visible change.

MAXIMUM CONTROL

STRONG CONTROL
PR40

High performance with a moderate level of natural light.

  • 39% light transmission on clear glass
  • 60% solar energy rejected
  • 55% glare reduction
BALANCED
PR50

A balanced option for daylight, comfort and glare reduction.

  • 50% light transmission on clear glass
  • 56% solar energy rejected

Performance values are based on the supplied 3M technical data. Infrared rejection is measured separately from total solar energy rejection. Final performance depends on the existing glass and installation conditions.
Multilayer optical film technology

More than 200 layers
working together.

Prestige uses microscopic, non-metalised optical layers to selectively manage different parts of the solar spectrum. This allows the film to target infrared energy while preserving high visible light transmission.

Unlike metallic films, Prestige cannot corrode and does not create signal interference. Its low reflectivity also avoids the harsh mirror effect and higher night-time interior reflection associated with many silver films.

1
Visible light passes through
High-transmission options preserve daylight and exterior views.
2
Infrared is selectively managed
Optical layers reject targeted infrared wavelengths that contribute to heat.
3
UV exposure is reduced
99.9% UV rejection helps slow fading of furnishings and finishes.
Where it works

Premium comfort for
light-filled spaces.

Professional specification matches the film to the glass, orientation and required balance of solar control, glare and daylight.

1
Architectural homes
Improve comfort through large windows while preserving natural light and outdoor views.
2
Offices
Reduce solar load and glare without creating a heavily reflective commercial facade.
3
Retail premises
Protect displays from UV exposure while keeping interiors bright and inviting.
4
Hospitality venues
Maintain guest comfort and clear views across hotels, restaurants and entertainment spaces.
5
Showrooms
Control heat around large glazed areas without substantially changing product visibility.
6
Public buildings
Support comfort and solar control in galleries, education facilities and community spaces.
Professional specification

Performance changes
with the glass.

  • Identify the glass and coatings
  • Review orientation and solar exposure
  • Balance glare, heat and daylight
  • Confirm product compatibility
Selecting your film

Balance comfort,
light and glare.

Film selection should reflect how each room is used, how much sun reaches the glass and how much natural light occupants want to retain.

1
PR20 and PR40
Choose stronger glare and solar control for highly exposed spaces or screen-based work areas.
2
PR50 and PR60
Choose a balanced combination of daylight, comfort and reduced glare.
3
PR70
Choose maximum visible light and minimal visual change where views are the main priority.

            FAQ

            Frequently Asked Questions

Prestige uses non-metalised multilayer optical film technology to target infrared energy while preserving visible light, low reflectivity and a natural appearance.

3M states that the Prestige Series rejects up to 97% of infrared light when measured between 900 and 1000 nanometres. Infrared rejection is one part of overall solar performance and should not be confused with total solar energy rejection.

No. The film is non-metalised, so it does not create the signal interference associated with some metallic window films.

PR70 provides the highest visible light transmission in the supplied range. On clear glass, it transmits 69% of visible light while rejecting 50% of total solar energy at normal incidence.

The family card includes performance data for double clear and double tinted glass. Compatibility must still be confirmed for the exact glass, coatings, frame and project conditions before installation.

Prestige is normally applied to the interior surface of suitable glass. Prestige Exterior is engineered for outside installation and may be considered where exterior application is more appropriate for the glazing or access conditions.
