3M Ceramic Architectural

Product overview

Natural-looking solar control
for contemporary glazing.

3M Ceramic Architectural Series combines solar control with high visible light transmission and low interior and exterior reflection.

Its non-metalised construction and natural tone help maintain the existing appearance of the glass while reducing excessive heat, glare and UV exposure. Four film options provide different balances of daylight and solar performance.

Best for Homes, offices, retail spaces and commercial buildings where comfort, clarity and a subtle exterior appearance are priorities.

Why choose Ceramic Architectural?

Solar control without a
heavily reflective look.

The range is designed for customers who want meaningful heat reduction while retaining natural light, exterior views and the character of the building.

LIGHT
Preserves natural light

High visible light transmission options help interiors remain bright and welcoming.

HEAT
Reduces solar heat

Rejects solar energy to help improve comfort near sun-exposed windows during warmer months.

VIEW
Maintains clear views

Low reflectivity and natural tone support clearer views through the glass, during the day and after dark.

UV
Protects interiors

Rejects up to 99.9% of UV light to help slow fading of furnishings, flooring, artwork and merchandise.

The Ceramic Architectural range

Choose the balance of
light and performance.

The product number indicates the relative light level. Lower numbers provide stronger solar and glare control, while higher numbers preserve more daylight.

MAXIMUM CONTROL
CA35

The strongest solar and glare control in the range for highly exposed glazing.

  • 37% visible light on clear glass
  • 55% total solar energy rejected
  • 58% glare reduction
BALANCED CONTROL
CA45

A balanced option for customers seeking good solar performance and moderate daylight.

  • 45% visible light on clear glass
  • 52% total solar energy rejected
  • 49% glare reduction
HIGHER DAYLIGHT
CA60

Higher light transmission with useful heat reduction and a subtle, natural appearance.

  • 62% visible light on clear glass
  • 48% total solar energy rejected
  • 30% glare reduction
MAXIMUM LIGHT
CA80

The clearest option for projects prioritising daylight, views and minimal visual change.

  • 77% visible light on clear glass
  • 43% total solar energy rejected
  • 13% glare reduction

            FAQ

            Frequently Asked Questions

The Ceramic Architectural Series is non-metalised and has a natural tone. It is designed to reduce solar heat while maintaining low interior and exterior reflectivity, good clarity and outward views.

CA80 provides the highest visible light transmission in the range. On the clear glass configuration listed by 3M, it transmits 77% of visible light while rejecting 43% of total solar energy.

CA35 provides the strongest solar and glare performance in the range, with lower visible light transmission than CA45, CA60 and CA80. The right balance depends on the glass, orientation and required appearance.

The series is designed for low interior and exterior reflectivity. It provides a more natural appearance than highly reflective silver films, although the final result depends on the existing glass and lighting.

The 3M family card includes performance data for double clear and double tinted glass. Compatibility still needs to be confirmed for the actual glazing system before installation.

The listed configurations reject between 99.6% and 99.9% of UV light, helping reduce one of the major contributors to fading. No film can eliminate all causes of fading.
