The 3M™ window film Prestige Exterior series fixes a couple of big problems with the Prestige series.
For most tinting purposes the Prestige series is spot on, or as close as you can get. However two things can throw a spanner in the works: Low-E glass and double glazing.
Both of these need the tinting to be on the exterior for different reasons.
Low-E glass has a special coating on the inside to emit infrared heat back into the building instead of letting it out into the cold. Interior tinting of any kind stops this special surface from working and even the cleaning required to install a tint can damage it. Tinting on the outside of the glass prevents this.
Double glazing has two panes of glass and the gap between them is used to insulate from the heat or cold. If the tint is put on the inside of the glass then the heat has already come through one pane of glass and the cavity before it hits the tint. Like Low-E glass, putting the tint on the outside avoids this problem.
3M™ window film Prestige Exterior is essentially the 3M Prestige range but with additional features to allow it to be applied on the outside of windows.
It is one of the only films that can be effectively and safely used on low-e glass to give you fantastic heat rejection performance, while also maintaining all the benefits of your low-e glass.
It’s available in a range of Visible Light Transmission (VLT) options of 40%, 70% and the super light 90%
Once you have sorted out heat rejection, the main job of the Prestige series, you can choose a film that will provide privacy, reduce glare, or maintain optimum natural light levels. It’s up to you.
Give us call if you think you might need exterior applications. We have ladders and some tall blokes on the team so nothing’s too high.
